A Good thing VS A God thing

“Now the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying, “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.”- I Samuel 15:10-11

How sad it is when God regrets putting you into position! Saul was the first king appointed by God but he also was a king that was controlled by his insecurities. Saul was externally motivated and lived off of the opinions of others. Saul fulfilled the mission by defeating the Amalekites but he did not follow the instructions of the Lord and then lied about it. How often do we do that. God gives us a blessing with instructions but once we get it we go our own way. Did God really say that??!! We always think we know best. You may think you are doing a good thing but is that good thing a GOD thing! Saul was rejected because he was a man after his own heart and his own desires. He cared more about people’s approval than God’s rejection. Always remember God will forgive you for disobeying Him but some sins can eliminate you from service. If you don’t act responsibly with what God has entrusted you, eventually you will run out of chances to keep it.

Reflect today: Am I doing a GOOD thing or am I doing a GOD thing!?
